Aikido Athens Bushido Center was established to meet the needs of people seeking a meaningful connection with martial arts as well as with Japanese and, more broadly, Asian culture. It is aimed at people who are not looking for competition, superficial involvement, or the spotlight through victory, as in sports. All the arts taught here embody our philosophy, as none of them involve competitions or encourage rivalry. Instead, they require dedication, patience, and a deep love. Love not only for the art they are learning but also for Japanese culture.

Our belief is that we do not simply learn but contribute to changing the culture of both peoples. We must respect the etiquette of these arts and pass it on intact to future generations, just as we have received it through the centuries of its existence.

For the quality and high standard of teaching and promotion of aikido in Greece, the Aikido Athens Bushido Center has received an honorary recognition from the Japanese Aikikai Foundation, as well as the authorization to conduct black belt examinations. This recognition, in addition to honoring our work as a whole, also reflects the seriousness and the love with which we engage in the Japanese arts.

Tenshin Shoden Katori Shinto Ryu

Athens Bushido Center is the only officially recognized Tenshin Shōden Katori Shintō-ryū group in Greece, preserving the authentic tradition of the school under the guidance of Kyōsō Shigetoshi Sensei and the Sōke through the Kyōsō Shibu.

The Aikido Athens Bushido Center is a nonprofit organization dedicated to deepening and promoting Japan’s cultural heritage in Greece. In this context, in addition to classes, we organize various events such as seminars on Japanese culture, film screenings, field trips, participation in various events, and more.
